Health and Prayer
Health and Prayer
Hide Abstract
The root of illnes is to acknowledge its presence will ill regard, or ignore it altogether. Illness is separation from health, where health is natural to the body. Illness is literally this separation, physically manifesting itself as symptom, but is itself merely a web of imperfect, or unnatural thoughts. When we are sick, we pray to get better. Prayer that aspires illness to leave the body seems inferior to prayer for health to enter the body, and inferior again to prayer that health is the body. To recognize anything else suggests some divorcement from something glorious and supreme. But only on an assumption that body is perfect. Given the awesome scope of disease, genetic deficiency, and the advent of aging, it hardly seems true that body is perfect, in fact a short stroll through a hospital or nursing home would seem to deny that it were. What is the benefit of saying body is perfect, that it is its natural state? How does this help?
